December Detox Box Review of Dr Alkaitis Holistic Organic Skin Food
Last month I tried my very first subscription box, The Detox Box from The Detox Market. I started shopping at The Detox Market when I decided to overhaul my skin care and makeup with more natural, organic products, so when they reached out and asked if I'd like to try their subscription box, it was an obvious yes.
December's Detox Box was filled with three products from a company I'd heard of but never tried, Dr. Alkaitis Holistic Organic Skin Food. An esthetician recently praised their line and said it completely transformed a client's skin, so it was definitely at the top of my "to try" list. Dr. Alkatis started his company because he discovered that his wife's skin care products were filled with harmful chemicals that should not be in contact with your skin, so he decided to formulate his own. Not only are they all made with organic, biodynamic, and wild crafted, plant based ingredients, but their origin story is so sweet.
Here's what was inside:
Organic Nourishing Treatment Oil: a multi-use oil for face, body, and hair. Made with jojoba oil, st. john's wort oil, rose hip seed oil, with 15 other anti-inflammatory herbs.
Organic Herbal Toner: a hydrating toner made of aloe vera, witch hazel, and, like the treatment oil, a wide variety of herbs.
Organic Universal Mask: a powdered mask that is all greens! Wheat grass, alfalfa, sea vegetables, kale...the list goes on. It's like a green juice for your face.
After testing the products for over 3 weeks, while I enjoyed them all, my favorite by far was the herbal toner. It feels soooo good to put on my face after washing, and it really aids in the spreading and absorption of facial oil right after. It also has a fresh, bright, scent that I really like, and this is coming from someone who is very sensitive to smells. I will most likely repurchase this as it's the best toner I've used that actually feels hydrating.
I included the treatment oil in my AM routine, and it felt moisturizing without being greasy. Thankfully, I did not have any problems with it clogging my pores or breaking me out, which is always a fear of mine when trying new products. The universal mask was like putting green superfood powder on my face! It was very gentle and soothing.
The Detox Box included all full size products, making it a great deal! The retail value is $143, but a one time box purchase is only $50. This one is now sold out, but I'd keep my eyes peeled for future boxes!
