Activist Collective Book Club

One of my goals this year is to take more time for myself. As a new mom I dove deep into taking care of my daughter. It goes without saying that it is a joy and privilege to raise her, but looking after myself definitely took a back seat.

One of the things I’d like to do this year is read again, so I’m excited to share that I’ve partnered up with Activist Collective to kick off their Book Club! The book I’ve chosen is Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. It was recommended to me countless times and I’m so eager to dig in!

If you’re unfamiliar with the book, here is a synopsis from the publisher, Milkweed Editions:

As a botanist, the author has been trained to examine nature with the tools of science; as a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, she embraces the notion that plants and animals are our teachers. Here she brings these two lenses together, showing how other living beings offer us gifts and lessons, even if we’ve forgotten how to hear their voices.

The book club is a great way to connect with like minded readers, and if you’re like me, stay accountable to reading the book. We’ll be having discussions via Instagram and their Facebook group, plus a mailing list to get updated twice a month.
