My 2017 Black Friday and Small Business Saturday Picks
Though I am a conscious consumer every day of the year, I do not have a problem with shopping on black friday/small business saturday/cyber monday as long as they are thoughtful and ethical purchases. This means I still carefully weigh options and decided whether or not I truly need something. I adhere to my strict standards as best as I can of being locally or USA made, from an independent business, was created under ethical standards, no unnecessary packaging, made of quality or organic ingredients, or is overall a business I would like to support. As a former business owner, I understand that sales can generate an large influx of income (to perhaps create a new product they've always wanted to but couldn't afford upfront), can nudge someone on the fence to try something new (and create a return customer), or is simply a way for them to say thank you!
Here are a few of my picks for this weekend's sales:
Vitruvi kindly gifted this to me a few months ago but this was seriously on my wish list since the beginning of the year! I researched essential oil diffusers for years (years!) and decided to go with this one for a few reasons: 1. It is made with a beautiful handmade porcelain ceramic cover which cuts down on plastic (most diffusers I've found are housed in plastic), 2. It has both a continuous running option, and a 30 sec on/off option (saving on oils while still adding scent to a room), 3. It is simply the most beautiful diffuser I've ever seen.
Sale: 25% off essential oils and diffusers and free shipping over orders $45+,
Date: Nov. 24-27, 2017
My Picks: essential oil diffuser, spruce essential oil (like standing in a forest), pink grapefruit essential oil
I recently started using Laurel's anti-inflammatory facial oil serum and I am in love!! Almost immediately I noticed my skin was significantly reduced in redness and hyper-pigmentation. As their name suggests, Laurel uses organic or biodynamic whole plants that are sourced directly from farmers, meaning a fresher, higher quality, more potent ingredients.
Myrtle is probably my favorite clothing shop in LA! Owner Whitney not only sources fun and beautiful clothing and accessories, but they are all from independent women designers. One of my recent purchases was this (shown above) Heinui Vela jumpsuit made of 100% Japanese double gauze cotton (read: very very comfortable) and no joke, I get at least three compliments on it every time I wear it out.

My Picks: Father's Daughter Mallory Ringer Tee, Kordal Seed Stitch Hat, John & Mickie Tree of Life Tapestry Dress (I don't usually wear large patterns but am so drawn to this dress!)
I've used Baggu bags since I first laid eyes on them in Teen Vogue probably almost 10 years ago! While they are made out of nylon (a non biodegradable material), I still use and recommend them because they are incredibly lightweight, easy to wash and air dry in minutes, come in a multitude of colors and patterns, and you can send them back to be recycled. The best reusable is one that you will use over and over again!

My Picks: Strawberry standard baggu, Petal baby baggu (this is a great size for buying fruit at the farmers market or buying a loaf of bread package free)
This shop carries a lot of great eco/green beauty products and is where I bought much of my makeup for my wedding.

My Picks: RMS Un Cover-Up, RMS Lip2Cheek in Modest (my go-to blush), Odacite Black Cumin Cajeput Serum (great for non drying acne spot treatment), Marie Veronique Replenishing Oil Cleanser
Things I haven't tried but Are on my wishlist:
Berkey Water Purifier - This table top water purifier can filter out viruses, heavy metals, and can even be used in emergency situations. We've been looking to replace our Brita pitcher that I'm convinced doesn't actually remove anything!
